Akwa United have unveiled captain of the home-
based Super Eagles team, Chima Akas, as their
player ahead of the new Nigeria Professional
Football League (NFPL) season.
The 21-year-old played for Sharks who were
relegated last season and was close to joining
champions Enyimba, before the Promise Keepers
stepped in and struck a deal.
Akas was unveiled on Saturday in Uyo, a day
after Akwa United drew with Enyimba to lift the
2016 Super 4 pre-season tournament.
According to reports, Akwa United offered Akas
better wages than Enyimba, which led to the
defender choosing the Federation Cup
champions, despite giving him word to the Aba
team.
He will reportedly earn N650,000 a month.
